Terms of Service
Version 2026-11-draft. These terms, our Privacy Policy and our list of subprocessors together form the agreement for using Talos.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
Talos is an open-source intelligence and research platform provided by Knightsbridge Research Ltd ("Knightsbridge", "we", "us"). These terms apply to every use of Talos: the web application, its API, the Talos Web Clipper browser extension and the Talos mobile apps.
Talos is sold to organisations. The organisation that holds a Talos account (the "customer") agrees to these terms for itself and for every person it lets use the account (each a "user"). If you use Talos as a user, you agree to follow these terms too. Where a customer has signed a separate written agreement with us, that agreement takes priority over these terms where the two differ.
You accept these terms by ticking the box when you sign in or accept an invitation. If you do not agree to them, do not use Talos.
2. Accounts and access
- Each user signs in with their own credentials. Do not share them, and keep two-factor authentication on where your account requires it.
- The customer decides who may use its account and with what role, and is responsible for what its users do in it.
- Tell us at once at info@knightsbridge.ltd if you believe an account has been used without permission.
- We may suspend a user or an account to protect Talos, other customers or the people Talos holds information about, or where these terms are being broken. Where we can, we will tell the customer first and say why.
3. Acceptable use
Talos is a professional tool for lawful research, due diligence, security and risk work. You must use it only for lawful purposes and in line with every law and regulation that applies to you and to your work, including data protection law.
You must not use Talos to:
- stalk, harass, intimidate, threaten or dox anyone, or to locate or track a private individual for any purpose that is not lawful and legitimate;
- discriminate unlawfully against anyone, or make decisions about a person's employment, housing, credit, insurance or eligibility for services where the law regulates how such decisions are made (for example as a consumer reporting agency), unless you are permitted to and comply with that law;
- collect or use information about a person without a lawful basis, or for a purpose incompatible with the one for which you hold it;
- break the terms of service of a website, platform or data provider that Talos collects from on your instruction, or get around a technical measure that restricts access to it;
- infringe anyone's intellectual property, privacy or other rights;
- upload malware, probe or attack Talos or any other system, or try to reach data that is not yours;
- resell, sublicense or offer Talos to third parties as a service, or copy or reverse engineer it, except as the law allows; or
- help anyone else do any of these things.
Some features (for example enrichment from commercial data providers, wealth screening or social media monitoring) come with extra conditions from the providers who supply the data. Where Talos shows you such conditions, they form part of these terms. Our list of subprocessors names those providers.
We may review activity, refuse a request or remove material where we reasonably believe it breaks this section.
4. Your data
- You own your data. Everything a customer and its users put into Talos, and the results Talos produces from it for them (together, "customer data"), belongs to the customer. We claim no ownership of it.
- What we may do with it. We use customer data only to provide, secure and support Talos for that customer, as our Privacy Policy describes, and as the law requires. We do not sell it, and we use AI providers only on terms that do not let them train their models on it.
- Your responsibility for it. The customer is responsible for having the right to put its data into Talos and to process it, including a lawful basis for any personal data about the people it researches. For personal data in customer data, the customer is the controller and we act as its processor. On request we will sign a data processing agreement on our standard terms.
- Getting it out and deleting it. A customer can ask us at any time for an export of its data, and for its deletion when it leaves. The Privacy Policy explains how, and how long backups take to expire.
5. Confidentiality
Each of us will keep the other's confidential information confidential, use it only for the purposes of this agreement, and share it only with staff and contractors who need it and are bound by the same duty. Customer data is the customer's confidential information. This does not apply to information that is already public through no fault of the receiving party, that it already had or developed independently, or that it must disclose by law (in which case it will, where allowed, tell the other first).
Information that Talos shows from one customer's account is never shown to another customer.
6. Third-party services and sources
Talos collects from and sends requests to third-party services on your instruction: public websites, social platforms, commercial data providers, translation and AI model providers. We do not control them, and we are not responsible for the accuracy, completeness or availability of what they return. Information from open sources can be wrong or out of date: check it before you rely on it.
Output produced with AI models can be inaccurate. Treat it as a starting point for your own judgement, not as a finding.
7. Fees
The customer pays the fees for its plan as set out in its order or in Talos's billing pages. Unless an order says otherwise, fees are billed in advance, are not refundable, and exclude VAT and other taxes. If an invoice is overdue we may restrict the account after telling the customer and giving it a reasonable chance to pay.
8. Our commitments
We will provide Talos with reasonable skill and care, keep it secure using appropriate technical and organisational measures, and tell a customer without undue delay if we become aware of a breach of security affecting its data. We may change Talos over time; we will not make a change that materially reduces the core functions a customer has paid for during its current term.
Apart from what these terms say, Talos is provided "as is", and we make no other promises about it, to the extent the law allows.
9. Liability
- Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.
- Neither party is liable for loss of profit, revenue, business, goodwill or anticipated savings, or for any indirect or consequential loss.
- Each party's total liability arising out of or in connection with this agreement in any twelve-month period is limited to the fees the customer paid or must pay for Talos in that period.
- The customer is responsible for, and will cover us against, claims by third parties arising from its or its users' breach of section 3 (Acceptable use) or from customer data it had no right to process.
10. Ending the agreement
A customer can stop using Talos at the end of its subscription term, or earlier as its order allows. Either party may end the agreement at once by written notice if the other materially breaches it and does not fix the breach within 30 days of being told about it. We may end it at once if a customer seriously or repeatedly breaks section 3. When the agreement ends, access stops, and the customer's data is exported (if asked for within 30 days) and then deleted as the Privacy Policy describes.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. Each version is numbered, and Talos records which version each user accepted. When we make a change that matters, we will tell customers in advance and ask users to accept the new version the next time they use Talos.
12. General
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them. If any part of them is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. Neither party may transfer its rights under them without the other's consent, except to a successor of its business. Failing to enforce a term is not a waiver of it.
